Our Story

Building connections between people and the Canadian wilderness since 2008.

Founded on a Simple Belief

sage-isle began when two park rangers noticed something troubling: visitors were driving through national parks without truly experiencing them. They rushed between viewpoints, snapped photos, and left without understanding the ecosystems they had witnessed.

We founded this company to offer an alternative. Our expeditions slow down the pace, providing context and connection that transforms sightseeing into genuine understanding. Each journey is designed not just to show you Canada but to help you feel part of its landscape.

Today, our team has grown to include naturalists, marine biologists, indigenous cultural liaisons, and wilderness safety experts. What unites us is a shared conviction that thoughtful tourism can benefit both travellers and the places they visit.

What Guides Every Expedition

Environmental Stewardship

Every expedition contributes to habitat restoration and wildlife conservation programs across Canada.

Community Partnership

We collaborate with First Nations communities to share authentic cultural knowledge and direct revenue locally.

Educational Focus

Our guides are trained educators who transform every observation into a learning opportunity.

Safety Excellence

Rigorous training and equipment standards ensure every adventure meets the highest safety benchmarks.

Guides Who Know This Land

Every member of our guiding team has spent years exploring and studying Canadian wilderness areas. Several hold advanced degrees in ecology or environmental science. Others bring decades of backcountry experience gained through search-and-rescue work or park service careers.

What sets our guides apart is their ability to read the land. They notice the subtle signs that indicate wildlife nearby. They identify plants by their leaves and explain the relationships between species. Most importantly, they share this knowledge in ways that spark curiosity rather than overwhelm.

Our Conservation Impact

Since 2008, a portion of every booking has supported wilderness conservation. These contributions fund trail maintenance in protected areas, wildlife monitoring programs, and habitat restoration projects.

We track and report our environmental footprint annually. This includes carbon emissions from transportation, waste generated during expeditions, and the positive impacts of our conservation contributions. Transparency keeps us accountable.
